Antipolo City ready for traditional Alay Lakad

Due to the expected large number of devotees who will join the traditional Alay Lakad, a major road leading to Antipolo City will be closed to traffic on Maundy Thursday to Black Friday, according to James Agustin's report on Unang Balita on Holy Wednesday.

Thousands of devotees from different places are expected to join the annual trek to  the Antipolo Cathedral on Maundy Thursday night.

Due to this, Rizal Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) is advising motorists of the temporary closure of Ortigas Avenue Extension, Antipolo-bound, from Cainta Junction to Antipolo.

The road closure will start from 8 p.m. on Maundy Thursday to 6 a.m. of Good Friday.

The city government is urging the motorists to use the designated alternative routes.

The city government also reminded visitors that parking in front of the Antipolo Cathedral will be prohibited starting Wednesday noon as carriages with images will be placed on the area before the procession. —Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA News
