Passengers at Clark airport recall panic when earthquake struck
Airline passengers recounted their frightening experience at the Clark International Airport when was rocked by the Magnitude 6.1 earthquake that hit parts of Luzon on Monday afternoon.
According to Victoria Tulad's report in GMA's 24 Oras on Tuesday, the ceiling above the airport's check-in counter collapsed, hurting some travelers. The people scampered and got hurt.
"Nagtatakbo na kami na ganu'n kanina. Tapos di ba ang dami. Nauntog ako kanina diyan sa ano, sa pader ba. Sa salamin," Renelyn Palacay said.
Another said there was a stampede.
"Nag-stampede na kami diyan eh sa sobrang takot namin. 'Yung isang ate nalaglagan siya ng salamin dito. Tas 'yung isang ate naapakan, napilay," Myca Oyhop said.
It was reported earlier that seven people got injured in the incident.
Authorities said that all hands are on deck to repair the damages in the airport and resume normal operations by Wednesday or Thursday. —NB, GMA News
