8 killed as truck rams UV Express van in Leyte

Eight people were killed on Friday morning in a vehicular collision in Leyte province, according to Mark Makalalad's report on Dobol B sa News TV, citing the police.

The accident happened shortly before 7 a.m. at Sitio Tab-ang in Babatngon involving a UV Express van en route to Tacloban City and a six-wheeler truck carrying live pigs.

A report by GMA News stringer Ronnie Roa, citing witnesses, said the truck was running fast when it strayed on the opposite lane and hit the van's driver side.

Authorities have yet to identify the victims as of posting time.

The area of the accident has been cordoned off as police conducted its investigation. —KBK, GMA News
