Ex-Lanao del Sur mayor faces raps over alleged failure to remit ex-councilor's GSIS contributions
Former Bacolod-Kalawi, Lanao del Sur Mayor Diarangan Ringka Dipatuan has been indicted before the Sandiganbayan for allegedly failing to remit the insurance contributions of a former councilor for one year.
Dipatuan was charged for one count of violation of Section 3(e) of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act and 12 counts of violation of Section 6(b), in relation to Section 52(g) the Government Service Insurance System Act.
The charge sheets filed by Assistant Special Prosecutor III Jorge Espinal also included then-municipal treasurer Rasad Gubat Dumarpa as co-accused.
Between March 2012 to February 2013, Dipatuan allegedly conspired with Dumarpa to “willfully, unlawfully, and criminally” fail to remit the monthly GSIS premium contributions of former Councilor Habid Tarosan within 30 days after its due date.
The prosecution said Dipatuan unremitted the correct amount of Tarosan’s GSIS contributions for the whole year of 2012.
A total bail bond of P150,000 has been recommended for each accused.
Ombudsman Samuel Martires approved the filing of charges against Dipatuan and Dumarpa on April 5. —KBK, GMA News
