Staff of Cebu hospital where ex-mayor Ricardo Ramirez was shot remain traumatized
Police are having a hard time tracking the suspects in the fatal shooting of former Medellin, Cebu mayor Ricardo Ramirez despite witnesses' testimonies, according to a report by Mariz Umali on GMA News TV's Balitanghali on Saturday.
The staff of the hospital in Medellin have been traumatized by the incident, wherein around 15 unidentified armed men went inside the hospital on Tuesday and shot Ramirez to death while he was confined.
One of the hospital personnel said she thought at first that someone was joking when she heard a man shout "Dapa!"
She then looked toward the guard, and one of the armed men ordered her to hit the ground too.
"Pagdapa namin diyan sa may daan, maraming sapatos na tumakbo. Hindi ko na alam ang sumunod," she said.
The suspects reportedly went to the nurses' station, cut the phone lines, and pointed a gun at the nurse in charge while asking her what room Ramirez was in.
After they heard loud sounds coming from Ramirez's room, they heard gunshots and shouts.
The staff called the police after the suspects left.
The hospital personnel asked the Philippine National Police for added security.
They also requested for stress debriefing.
Authorities are still conducting a manhunt for the suspects.
The PNP has vowed justice for the slain former mayor. —KG, GMA News
