Monsoon rains cause floods in Luzon
Due to the monsoon rains enhanced by Tropical Depression Egay which later weakened into a low pressure area, several areas across Luzon experienced flooding and other damage, according to reports on GMA News’ Unang Balita on Tuesday.
On Monday, the flood in MacArthur Highway in Marilao, Bulacan slowed down passing motorists.
The flood in some of the affected barangays in Marilao already subsided by Tuesday, but four barangays such as Barangay Abangan Sur were still submerged in flood.
In Fausta Village, the flood remained calf-deep. A gasoline station was still submerged in water. The floodwaters rose above the knee in some houses, according to a report of Darlene Cay.
Meanwhile in Balagtas also in Bulacan, some areas were hit by calf-deep flood. As of Tuesday morning, the flood in these areas has started to subside, according to a report of Bam Alegre.
In Bataan, some barangays in Hermosa were also flooded. Due to the waist-deep flood, the locals used boats as a mode of transportation in the area.
Flooding was also reported in San Simon, Pampanga.
Meanwhile in Ligao City, Albay, motorists had to turn on their vehicles' headlights during the day due to poor visibility on the road caused by the heavy rains.
A fallen tree blocked a highway in Barangay Paulog, forcing motorists to find alternate routes.
Meanwhile in Nabua, Camarines Sur, the spillway in Waras River was clogged due to trash, fallen branches and leaves.
Weather bureau PAGASA on Tuesday said the southwest monsoon will bring rains over Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Mindoro, and Palawan.
The rest of Luzon including Metro Manila meanwhile will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms.
Flash floods and landslides may be possible.
