A lawyer was killed while his wife was hurt in a gun attack by yet unidentified assassins in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental Tuesday.
Lawyer Anthony Trinidad, 53, was killed in the shooting while his wife Novie Marie was rushed to a hospital in Dumaguete City.
Initial police investigation showed that Trinidad was on board his sports utility van Tuesday afternoon when "riding-in-tandem" suspects approached his vehicle and shot him several times.
Trinidad then lost control of his vehicle and collided with trisikad driver Guillermo Magdasal.
Police recovered from the crime scene nine bullets from a caliber .45 pistol.
Guihulngan City Police chief Lieutenant Colonel Bonifacio Tecson said that Trinidad was among the names in a hit list by the Kawsa Guihulnganon Batok Komunista (KAGUBAK).
Tecson added that the slain lawyer had also asked the police for additional security whenever he does legal work in Guihulngan. —LDF, GMA News
