Magnitude-5.2 quake strikes east of Davao Oriental – PHIVOLCS


A magnitude-5.2 earthquake struck 21 kilometers east of Davao Oriental's Baganga town on Saturday night, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.

The quake struck at 9:02 p.m., was tectonic in origin, and had a 35-kilometer depth of focus.

The tremor was felt at Intensity III in:

  • Baganga, Davao Oriental;
  • Manay, Davao Oriental; and
  • Caraga, Davao Oriental.


It was meanwhile felt at Intensity II in:

  • Cateel, Davao Oriental;
  • Bislig City, Surigao del Sur; and
  • Mati City, Davao Oriental.

The quake was felt at Intensity I in Davao City.

The tremor was also measured at an Instrumental Intensity I in:

  • Bislig City; and
  • Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental.

Though no damage was expected from the quake, aftershocks were expected. — DVM, GMA News
