The municipal government of M'lang in the province of Cotabato has opened its gymnasium to serve as temporary shelter for patients of a hospital.

The building of Roldan Medical Clinic and Hospital was temporarily closed after it sustained cracks following Wednesday night’s magnitude 6.3 earthquake that hit Mindanao.

Most of the patients feared the building might collapse.

Meanwhile, M'lang District Hospital sustained minor cracks after an evaluation by the municipal government.

"Minor cracks were observed but still safe for operation. Padayon ang serbisyo," Engr. James Gundaya posted on Facebook.

Almost 100 aftershocks have been reported by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

The quake shook a large swath of Mindanao damaging a small college building in one city and prompting residents to dash out of homes and closed down shopping malls. — BAP, GMA News
