Davao City issues preemptive evacuation as rivers, creeks overflow

The Davao City local government on Thursday evening issued a preemptive evacuation for its residents as creeks and rivers overflow and flood several barangays, according to Jaycel Villacorte's report on Super Radyo DzBB.
The heavy rainfall was caused by localized thunderstorms is also experienced in other provinces in Mindanao, PAGASA-Davao said.
According to a report posted by the Davao City government on social media, there were at least 286 individuals evacuated from flood-affected area in Purok 23, Barangay Sto. Niño and are now staying at the Barangay Hall.
At least 25 individuals evacuated from flood-affected area in Philoia, Bago Aplaya and are currently sheltered at the Barangay Hall.
In Barangay Sto. Niño in Tugbok, at least 56 individuals, including children, were evacuated.
Volunteers and rescuers are deployed to assist the ongoing rescue operation in flood-affected area in Gulf View, Bago Aplaya.
They are also set to assist residents of Matina Pangi, Catalunan Pequeño, and in Barangay Sto Niño, Tugbok are affected by rising flood levels and have been advised to conduct preemptive evacation as the alarm system was turned on to warn communities.
The city government is monitoring the reported water level rise of the Matina River Channels that is affecting Teachers Village; creek overflow in Purok 9, Barangay Tacunan; while the Talomo River channels are now under Code Red.
