CHR, Cebu City start investigations into Clarin Mayor Navarro's killing
The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) will be conducting its own investigation into the murder of Clarin Mayor David Navarro given that Navarro was included in the government's list of politicians involved in illegal drugs.
According to a Saturday report on GMA 7 news program 24 Oras Weekend, some 10 gunmen came up from behind Navarro's vehicle and opened fire.
While his police escorts were told not to resist and to lay on the ground, Navarro was dragged out of his vehicle and shot multiple times.
Based on the medicolegal reports, Navarro was shot thrice in the head and 25 times in other parts of the body.
Meanwhile, Cebu City authorities also created their own special task force to investigate the murder.

The Police Regional Office 7 was also looking into the accountability of Navarro's police escorts.
However, in a separate report by Jonathan Andal, Cebu City Police Director Police Colonel Gemma Vinluan defended the police officers.
According to Vinluan, though the escorts were unable to protect Navarro, they sought assistance as soon as they could and other officers immediately responded to the scene.
While they were still unsure of the motive behind the killing, Vinluad added that they received information that Navarro had been receiving death threats.
Meanwhile, investigators were checking CCTV footage at the crime scene even as a re-enactment of the incident was being arranged.
As multiple investigations into his murder were being started, Navarro's remains were taken to Misamis Occidental on Saturday afternoon.
