Cabanatuan judge declared ‘persona non grata’ in Baguio on Magalong’s orders

A Cabanatuan judge was declared persona non grata in Baguio City on Monday upon the orders of Baguio Mayor Benjamin Magalong, after the former issued subpoenas for Baguio traffic enforcers who cited him for illegal parking.

In a Facebook post, the Baguio City government announced that its City Council declared Cabanatuan Municipal Court Judge Nelson Largo a persona non grata through Resolution No. 429 - 2019.

Last October 25, Baguio traffic enforcers issued Largo a traffic citation ticket and seized his license plate for illegally parking inside the Baguio Market.

After this incident, Largo charged the enforcers with indirect contempt and issued a subpoena for a November 29 hearing in Cabanatuan.

Last Friday, Magalong wrote to Supreme Court Chief Justice Diosdado Peralta asking the high court to act on Largo’s “unprofessional and arrogant” treatment of the enforcers.

Magalong also said that Largo violated Baguio’s traffic color coding scheme.

The Baguio City mayor stood by his men in earlier statements, explaining that the enforcers were merely performing their duties. — BAP, GMA News
