7 hurt in explosion in steel plant in San Simon, Pampanga

Seven people were hurt after an explosion rocked a steel plant in San Simon, Pampanga on Saturday night.

The San Simon Municipal Police Office said the explosion occurred at 11:30 p.m., GMA News' Jonathan Andal posted on Twitter.

Fire Officer 3 Araid Macapayag, arson investigator of the San Simon Bureau of Fire Protection, said they received a report about the explosion at 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

The BFP is still determining the nature of the explosion and the possible motive for it.

Macapayag said one of those injured was a Chinese national who serves as consultant at the SKK Steel Corporation.

The injured were brought to the Pampanga Premier Medical Center and the Jose B. Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital for immediate treatment. —KG, GMA News
