BJMP recaptures 5 fugitives from Manjuyod District Jail
The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) on Saturday recaptured five detainees who escaped from the Manjuyod District Jail in Negros Oriental on Monday.
In a statement, BJMP Region VII Director Jail Chief Superintendent Paulino Moreno Jr. said two of the "persons deprived of liberty" (PDLs), identified as Janly Callao and Ronie Flores, surrendered after a successful negotiation with their relatives.
Meanwhile, the three other escapees - Joseph Casido, Julan Paculanang, and Lito Pedro - were recaptured in a hot pursuit operation by the joint forces of the BJMP Region VII and the Tayasan Police Station.
The PDLs would be detained at the Bais City Jail and the Dumaguete City District Jails instead of being sent back to the Manjuyod District Jail.
The BJMP was continuing its investigation into the escape. — Jamil Santos/DVM, GMA News
