Nabbed Bacolod CIDG chief denies soliciting protection money from KTV bar

The head of the Bacolod City police’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group has denied that he was soliciting "protection" money from the owners of a KTV bar.

Major Marvin Madrona was arrested last Thursday after the owners of the bar at Golden Field Commercial Complex in Barangay Singcang complained.

According to a report of Emil Sumangil in GMA News TV’s Balitanghali on Sunday,  Madrona denied the allegations and added that his arrest was improper.

"Sila gumagawa ng problema nila, nagpapasayaw sila, inaresto natin. Ngayon gagawa sila ng senaryo," the Bacolod City CIDG chief said.

“Ang pangyayari ng pag-aresto sa akin ganito. Wala akong baril, tumaas ang kamay ko sabay palo sa ulo ko. Sana maintindihan niyo,” he added.

He and alleged cohort Jay-R Dela Cruz were arrested in Mansilingan town by joint operatives of the Negros Occidental Police and PNP – IMEG.

According to the complainants, the suspects were demanding P5,000 in exchange for "protection" of the KTV bar so that it could still operate. — Joviland Rita/BM, GMA News
