1 of 13 soldiers wounded in Iligan road crash died —Army official
One of the soldiers reported wounded in the road crash in Iligan City has died, a military official said Saturday.
Lieutenant Colonel Domingo Dulay Jr., 4th Mechanized Infantry Battalion commander, said the soldier died Friday night due to internal hemorrhage secondary to blunt force trauma in the abdomen.
Dulay identified the victim as Leandro Gabriel de Asis from the Philippine Army.
Also, Dula said De Asis' next of kin have been informed, and that some members of the family are coming over to Iligan City to claim the soldier's remains.
Earlier reports indicate that 13 soldiers and five members of the Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (CAFGU) were hurt when an Army truck fell into a ravine in Barangay Lanipao, Iligan City at 6 p.m. on Friday.
Dulay said that as of Saturday morning, several soldiers and two CAFGU members who were still being treated in the hospital were all in good condition.
Meanwhile, one of the soldiers who was slightly hurt in the incident has been discharged from the hospital.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the army truck incident, Dulay added. —Merlyn Manos/LBG, GMA News
