Laguna gov’t puts all hands on deck to ease checkpoints

The government of Laguna said it has deployed more personnel to man checkpoints in a bid to ease the bottleneck of vehicles seeking to enter the province.

Interviewed on GMA News TV’s Balitanghali on Wednesday, Governor Ramil Hernandez said he has deployed jail guards and traffic enforcers to checkpoints.

“Mineeting ko na po ang ating mga mayor na gamitin ang mga barangay, pati barangay tanod para marami pong magtulong-tulong,” he added.

Live footage at the Calamba exit of the South Luzon Expressway showed long lines of vehicles waiting to pass through the checkpoint.

The governor said he expects the traffic to ease before the end of Wednesday or early Thursday morning.

“Medyo nagkabiglaan lang po pero unti-unti na pong naaayos ang lahat,” he assured residents.

Hernandez added that the provincial government has designated its vehicles to be used as shuttles to ferry frontline workers to their workplaces.

“Hindi po nila kakailanganing problemahin na hindi makakapagtrabaho dahil walang sasakyan,” he said.
