Laguna COVID-19 cases reach 17; eight towns under total lockdown
The province of Laguna has tallied 17 cases of COVID-19 as of Friday, and has placed eight towns under total lockdown.
The cases of the coronavirus 2019 disease have been reported in the following areas, according to Laguna Governor Ramil Hernandez in a Facebook post:
- Santa Rosa: 7
- Biñan: 3
- Calamba: 2
- San Pedro: 2
- Cabuyao: 1
- Los Baños: 1
- Lumban: 1
The municipal government of Los Baños earlier confirmed that the town's first COVID-19 case died on March 21.
Hernandez said the province has 687 persons under investigation (PUIs) and 8,859 persons under monitoring (PUMs) of which 1,277 have been cleared.
The governor also said a total lockdown has been implemented in eight towns starting Thursday, March 26.
These towns are Kalayaan, Paete, Pakil, Pangil, Siniloan, Famy, Mabitac and Santa Maria due to the COVID-19 threat.
Only those with quarantine pass and exempted personnel (healthcare workers, uniformed men, work force in essential and health emergency cases) will be allowed to enter and exit the above-mentioned areas. —KG, GMA News
