DOH Bicol confirms first death due to COVID-19
The Department of Health - Center for Health Development in Bicol Region has confirmed its first fatality from coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) while the number of confirmed cases rose to 13.
In a press statement on Monday night, health authorities said a 66-year-old male from Camarines Sur was the 12th confirmed case recorded in the region. The patient was admitted at the Bicol Medical Center midnight of April 2, however, he died on April 3.
According to DOH - Region V, the test result confirming that he was positive for COVID-19 was released on Monday.
Meanwhile, the 13th confirmed COVID-19 case was a 63-year-old female from Albay who had traveled in Baguio City. At present, the patient is confined at the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital (BRTTH).
There are 115 persons under investigation in the entire region, according to DOH - Region V.
The DOH - Region V said the local government units concerned have already undertaken precautionary measures to prevent further spread of the disease.
The Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit as well as the surveillance units of the local government are currently conducting contact tracing to determine who had close contact with the patients.—AOL, GMA News
