P400K worth of shabu seized from San Mateo municipal hall driver

About P400,000 worth of illegal drugs "shabu" were seized in Rizal on Monday, according to John Consulta’s 24 Oras report.

The Regional District Enforcement unit of the Philippine National Police Region IV-A and the Binangonan Police said suspect Frederick Garillo, a driver at the local government unit of San Mateo, and Ronald Bernardo were nabbed for transporting P400,000 worth of shabu to the towns of Binangonan and Angono.

Police said Garillo has been working with the San Mateo LGU for eight years already.

Authorities also said the two suspects have been in and out of the province despite the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine.

According to the suspects, they were only trying to make money amid the lockdown.

“Siyempre gawa nga ng walang (kinikita) ngayon,” Bernardo said.

Meanwhile, Garillo said the San Mateo LGU had nothing to do with the incident.

“Wala pong kinalaman ang LGU ng San Mateo sa lahat ng nangyare po sa amin. Personal ko pong lakad ‘yon,” he said. —Ma. Angelica Garcia/LDF, GMA News
