Tarlac gov donates 3-month pay to buy rapid COVID-19 test kits


Tarlac Governor Susan Yap donated her three-month salary so that the province could purchase 500 units of rapid diagnostic test kits amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

According to the provincial government of Tarlac on Tuesday, the test kits would cost P375,000. These will be utilized by the Tarlac Provincial Hospital and other government hospitals in the province in testing possible COVID-19 infections.

The tests can be performed within three to five days from the onset of the illness according to Dr. Gary Role, the chief of the Tarlac Provincial Hospital.

Earlier, the Tarlac Sangguniang Panlalawigan donated their entire pay for the month of April to aid in the efforts against the disease. The total collection has amounted to P1,222,828.36.

As of April 13, the entire province recorded a total of 21 COVID-19 cases.

Over 2,000 were listed as persons under monitoring, 71 were considered as mild persons under investigation, 254 were severe PUIs who are already tested, and 82 severe PUIs who are still confined. — Anna Felicia Bajo/RSJ, GMA News
