COVID-19 deaths increase demand for marble urn from Romblon
The demand for marble urn from Romblon has increased amid the number of fatalities due to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the country, GMA News’ Unang Balita reported Wednesday.
The report said Romblon Mayor Gerard Montojo allowed at least four suppliers of marble urns in the town to resume operation.
Montojo advised workers to observe physical distancing while on duty to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The production of urns in Romblon was earlier halted in compliance with the enhanced community quarantine because it is not considered as an essential goods.
However, the demand increased as the remains of those who succumbed to COVID-19 should be cremated immediately.
Many funeral homes in Metro Manila are now ordering marble urns from Romblon, the report said.
As of Tuesday, the total number fatalities in the Philippines due to COVID-19 rose to 335. There are 5,223 confirmed cases in the country.—AOL, GMA News
