Resorts in Pansol, Laguna turned into quarantine facilities

The local government of Calamba, Laguna has converted several resorts in Pansol into quarantine facilities for suspected coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients.

According to John Consulta's Tuesday report on 24 Oras, the converted rooms contain airconditioning units and television sets for the patients.

Designated health care workers will monitor the suspected cases in these facilities.

"Kung saka-sakaling dumating 'yung puntos po na mas kakailanganin natin ng mas malawak na pasilidad dito po sa ating lungsod ay may mga naka-target na po kaming mga malalaking resorts," Jeffrey Rodriguez, the Calamba Peace and Order Safety Office chief said.

The rapid testing in Calamba City will be conducted simultaneously with the tagging of suspected cases, all of whom would be required to wear bracelets.

According to the report, the patients would not be allowed to remove the bracelet. They would also be required to undergo a 14-day quarantine until they test negative for the virus.

"Kung lumabas ng bahay 'yan which is bawal in the first place tapos nakita'ng may naka-tag. Alam ng mga tao pagtinag ka, eh, suspected ka. Mismong tao na rin ang iiwas sa kanya," Calamba Mayor Timmy Chipeco said.

"If they cut it na walang authority, no, kasi meron kaming guidelines na gagawin, may ordinance kami, meron po'ng penalty sa ordinance namin. It could be a fine or imprisonment," he added. — Joahna Lei Casilao/DVM, GMA News
