Cebu City reports 18 new COVID-19 cases; total now at 328
Cebu City recorded 18 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), bringing the city’s total infection to 328, Mayor Edgar Labella announced Thursday.
Labella said 15 of the new cases came from Barangay Labangon, two from Cebu City Jail, and one from Barangay Mambaling.
Barangay Labangon was already placed under total lockdown by local authorities to curb the spread of the virus.
The Cebu City Health Department also clarified that there were only 137 reported cases in the city on Wednesday.
Initially, 139 cases were recorded but after further validation, the city health department said one of the cases was a repeat test, while the other was a false positive.
Cebu City has, so far, confirmed a total of six fatalities due to the respiratory illness.
Labella has extended the enhanced community quarantine in the whole city until May 15 amid the rising cases of COVID-19.
He said the extension, however, could still change depending on the number of infections in the coming weeks.
