Surigao town councilor injured in road mishap

BUTUAN CITY - A municipal councilor of Tagbina, Surigao del Sur was hurt after figuring in a freak accident along the National Highway in Barangay Poblacion, Sunday afternoon, a belated police report said. Tagbina town is about 150 kilometers away from Butuan City, Caraga’s regional center. Police said Municipal Councilor Florentino Ramas was driving his single motorcycle (MT 8513) when it accidentally bumped the rear portion of another motorcycle (YD 9590) driven by a one Apolonio Vasquez Llanos, a resident of Sitio Cacawan, Cambatong village in Hinatuan town. Ramas sustained injuries as he was thrown off his motorcycle upon impact. Llanos was unhurt. The local politician is currently confined at the Butuan Doctors Hospital. Initial police investigation said Ramas failed to see motorcycle being driven by Llanos, and it was already too late when he applied the breaks on his own motorcycle. - Alvin Guanzon, GMANews.TV
