Three dead after drinking lambanog in Los Baños

Three people died on Sunday after drinking lambanog in Los Baños, Laguna.

According to a Super Radyo dzBB report by Rod Vega, three friends drank lambanog in Barangay Maahas on Saturday night.

One of them was found unconscious on Sunday morning while the other two were rushed to the hospital but declared dead on arrival, according to Los Baños police.

Meanwhile, a fourth person who was also with the group is currently being treated in hospital.

Police said they will continue to investigate the incident.

At least 20 people died of lambanog poisoning in December last year. 

The Food and Drug Administration previously said high levels of methanol in the distilled coconut wine may have caused the deaths. — Julia Mari Ornedo/BM, GMA News
