Suspect in killing of Cebuana teen found dead in jail

The suspect in the killing of Cebuana teen Christine Lee Silawan last year was found dead inside Lapu-Lapu City Jail on Sunday.

Information from Central Visayas police chief Police Brigadier General Albert Ignatius Ferro on Monday said 44-year-old Renato Llenes was found lifeless inside a comfort room of the infirmary cell by another inmate.

Llenes was initially brought to the facility clinic and transferred to the Lapu-Lapu City District Hospital but was later declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Llenes earlier claimed to have killed Silawan with the use of scissors. The suspect said he used a fake Facebook account to meet the victim.
