La Union now free of COVID-19 active case

The local government of province of La Union in the Ilocos region has declared its province free of any active case of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

In its official Facebook page, the provincial government of La Union on Wednesday announced the recovery of the last two, active COVID-19 cases.

"It is with great happiness that we announce that La Union is now COVID-19 free. This comes after our last active cases from Balaoan and Bangar [towns] have recovered," Governor Francisco Emmanuel Ortega III said.

"We praise the Lord for His faithfulness and unfailing love to our province and our kaprobinsiaan," Ortega added.

Ortega called on his constituents to "embrace the minimum health standards as a way of life" because the COVID-19 war is far from over.

"These are big adjustments we need to take, but these changes are meant to make our willpower stronger, and our love for each other deeper," Ortega added. —Anna Felicia Bajo/LBG, GMA News
