Cebu City's COVID-19 beds already filled up

New cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) from Cebu City are now being brought to private hospitals in the neighboring city of Lapu-Lapu due to a lack of beds.

According to Lou-Anne Mae Rondina’s Wednesday report on “24 Oras,” all COVID-19 hospital beds in Cebu City have been filled up.

Since last week, COVID-19 patients from the city have been taken to Lapu-Lapu.

Cebu City still has the highest number of COVID-19 infections nationwide with 2,905 cases, according to the Department of Health.

President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday reimposed the stringent enhanced community quarantine over the city to stem COVID-19 transmissions.

Meanwhile, Lapu-Lapu City has recorded 198 cases with 69 recoveries and 16 deaths.

Local officials of Lapu-Lapu and administrators of two private hospitals in the city will meet on Thursday to discuss the possible expansion of COVID-19 beds. —Julia Mari Ornedo/LDF, GMA News
