Daanbantayan, Cebu mayor tests positive for COVID-19

Daanbantayan, Cebu Mayor Sun Shimura has tested positive for COVID-19.

In announcing his condition on the Facebook page of the Municipality of Daanbantayan, Shimura  said he had fever and cough on June 18 and had a swab test on June 20.

The result of the swab test came out on June 21, Sunday, stating that he got infected with COVID-19.

Prior to that, Shimura said a rapid test showed he was negative for the virus -- reason why continued attending meetings and other activities.

Shimura said he is confident that he will be able to recover from the disease.

Central Visayas, composed of the provinces of Cebu, Bohol, Siquijor, and Negros Oriental, is under general community quarantine. Only Cebu City was placed under enhanced community quarantine due to the spike of COVID-19 cases there. --Anna Felicia Bajo/KBK, GMA News
