Cities of Iloilo, Bacolod close borders due to rising COVID-19 cases
Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Trenas and Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia has announced separately that borders to the cities will be closed due to an increase in the number of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases.
"Due to the rising number cases of COVID-19, Iloilo City will CLOSE ITS BORDERS for people coming in from BACOLOD CITY, PROVINCES OF NEGROS OCCIDENTAL, AND NEGROS ORIENTAL, starting tomorrow, JULY 22, 2020," said Trenas.
Bacolod City Mayor Leonardia announced that borders closed effective 11:59 p.m. on July 21.
"Given the existing circumstances in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental and also that in Iloilo City and Province of Iloilo, we are closing our borders to passengers coming from iloilo city, province of iloilo and the whole of Panay including Guimaras," he added.
Both chief executives have assured that the delivery of essential goods and cargoes will be unhampered. -- BAP, GMA News
