13 barangays in Baguio under lockdown amid rise in COVID-19 cases
Thirteen barangays in Baguio City were placed under lockdown due to the rise of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases, according to a 24 Oras News Alert.
On Monday, Baguio reported 35 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total tally in the city to 97 cases. Of these, there are 48 active cases, two fatalities, and 47 recoveries.
Authorities said they would conduct contact tracing and disinfection procedures in the barangays under lockdown.
Baguio was lauded as a model government unit amid the pandemic as it managed to keep its COVID-19 cases low.
Retired General Restituto Padilla, the National Task Force COVID-19 spokesman, had praised Mayor Benjamin Magalong after the local government reported no new case in 10 days.
On April 10, the city's 13-day COVID-19 streak of no new cases reported was broken after another resident tested positive for the virus.
