Community in Bataan on lockdown as 12 infected by COVID-19 after worship service
An area at a barangay in Abucay, Bataan has been placed under a partial lockdown after 12 people who attended a worship service in Balanga City tested positive for COVID-19.
"Part lang ng isang barangay natin ang ni-lockdown natin... kasi meron tayong 12 na positibo sa area ng isang barangay sa Abucay dahil sa worship na ginawa sa Balanga City," Engineer Ernesto Vergara, chief of COVID Team of Abucay, Bataan, said in a Dobol B sa News TV interview.
"Meron din po silang mga lapses doon sa kanilang ginawang pagwo-worship at ang kanilang pastor ay galing ng Manila or Quezon City," he added.
Vergara said the 12 new cases were relatives residing in one street.
The lockdown will last until August 11.
The patients are now at an isolated facility of the provincial government.
Bataan is under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ), where a 50-percent capacity is allowed for religious gatherings.
Contact tracing conducted by the LGU led to seven people, including a three, six, and a nine-year-old from a family, being found infected with COVID-19, Vergara said. - Jamil Santos/MDM, GMA News
