CALABARZON Police awarded best police regional office in 119th Police Service Anniversary

CALABARZON Police was hailed as the best police regional office during the 119th Police Service Anniversary on Thursday.

The award was received by Police Regional Office IV-A chief Police Brigadier General Vicente Danao Jr.

Among the challenges faced by the CALABARZON police was the phreatic eruption of Taal Volcano early this year in which over 200 cops had been affected.

Police officers in the region have also been tapped to enforce the quarantine protocols amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Crimes that took place in the region have also reached headlines, including the killing of Jang Lucero, the female driver who rented out her car and was stabbed to death in Laguna province.

A recent encounter in Kalayaan, Laguna also resulted in the killing of three suspected members of the New People's Army. Following this, Philippine National Police chief Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa ordered for a hot pursuit operation against communist rebels in the area.

The Police Service Anniversary is being celebrated to commemorate the establishment of the Philippine Constabulary, which was the country's first insular police force.

Gamboa and Interior Secretary Eduardo Año graced the celebration held at Camp Crame, with a nationwide live simulcast of the anniversary rites in all 17 police regional offices across the country.   

President Rodrigo Duterte also gave a virtual message for the cops during the event.

This year's theme focuses on the mandate and resiliency of policemen in the time of COVID-19 pandemic: "Towards A Pandemic-Resilient PNP: Deploying Digital Technologies and Adopting Protective Protocols in The New Normal."
