Man loses job amid pandemic, turns to transforming an old house in Cavite into a resort
A 31-year-old man in Cavite transformed his grandmother’s old house into a private resort after he lost his job amid the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
According to the report of MJ Geronimo on “Stand for Truth” on Thursday, Perry Dave Binuya said his grandmother’s house has been neglected after she died years ago.
When he was laid off by his company, Binuya decided to use his savings in renovating the place and turn it into a resort, which will be his new source of income.
He said he spent about P1.7 million in the resort, which he called Atara Lounge.
“When I lost my job, I was super sad na parang ‘why is this happening?’ Mayroong pandemic and I lost my job,” Binuya said, adding that he also received news that a sister had cancer and a brother suffered a stroke.
These heartaches, however, did not deter him from his project as he wants to somehow repay his family's sacrifices for him.
“A little over two months lang natapos namin lahat (ng renovation activities). Super madalian. Madaming tumulong na laborers, karpentero, mason… Sobrang pinaganda ko kasi talaga siya,” he added
He said the resort, which has four bedrooms, can accommodate 20 people. It also has a kitchen, two toilets, an outdoor lounge, and an “Instagrammable” pool, which is made up of black granite with illuminated lights.
Binuya also said it has always been his dream to have a swimming pool inside their house.
“When I finished the project, I was super happy. I was super proud na napakita ko sa parents at tsaka sa siblings ko na they raised me really well,” he said.
“The swimming pool is not just a swimming pool for me. It’s a dream come true and a reflection of how my parents and my siblings raised me well,” he added. -- Ma. Angelica Garcia/BAP, GMA News
