Barangay Iyam's spillway quickly overflowed with water rushing into residential areas, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) said.

As of posting time, intermittent rains have continued in some parts of the province, it added.

Flooding was also experienced in Atimonan town.

So far, there were no reports of evacuation, or areas needing assistance, but the PDRRM reminded residents in landslide and flood-prone areas to take necessary precautions.

In its early Thursday morning weather bulletin, state weather bureau PAGASA said a low-pressure area (LLPA) over the coastal waters of San Pascual, Masbate as the Southwest Monsoon was affecting southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Metro Manila, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Visayas and Mindanao will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the LPA and the southwest monsoon. The affected areas may experience flash floods or landslides due to scattered light to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Cagayan Valley will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the northeasterly surface wind flow, which will not cause significant impact to the areas.

Also, PAGASA said that it was monitoring an active tropical cyclone outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). —LBG, GMA News
