Coast Guard: 1,388 passengers stranded in Southern Tagalog, Bicol, Eastern Visayas due to Ofel
The Philippine Coast Guard on Wednesday said a total of 1,388 individuals have been stranded in Southern Tagalog, Bicol, and Eastern Visayas due to Tropical Depression Ofel.
As of 12 noon, a total of 682 rolling cargoes, 41 vessels, and 19 motor boats were stranded in the above mentioned areas, according to the PCG. It added that 33 vessels and 25 motor boats are taking shelter in the said regions.
According to the Office of Civil Defense V, most of the stranded passengers are in Albay and Sorsogon.
PAGASA said Ofel had made its third landfall in the vicinity of Burias Island, Masbate at 12 noon. Eleven areas are presently under Signal No. 1
The OCD V said Ofel continues to maintain strength as it moves towards the Marinduque-Romblon area. — Anna Felicia Bajo/RSJ, GMA News
