Body of boy found 20 kms away after getting swept by lahar flow amid Rolly

A nine-year-old boy’s lifeless body was found more than 20 kilometers away from his home in Guinobatan, Albay after he fell into lahar flow triggered by Typhoon Rolly.

According to Saleema Refran’s “24 Oras” report on Wednesday, Enrique “Junjun” Sanchez Jr. went missing after lahar flow coupled with big rocks ravaged Barangays Travesia and San Francisco.

He was found several kilometers away in the town of Oas.

Junjun’s father and two other siblings survived but suffered wounds all over their body.

Malou, his mother, was buried alive.

Three more people are missing, including Junjun’s older brother Manny, who was believed to have been swept away to Oas by the lahar flow as well.

A total of six residents died from two Guinobatan barangays, three of whom were later retrieved in Oas.

Earlier, a Guinobatan man’s 5-year-old son was also found dead in Oas while his wife and daughter went missing after raging flood waters took them away. Albay is one of the hardest hit areas by Rolly, the world’s strongest storm of the year so far. -Julia Mari Ornedo/NB, GMA News
