Unfinished dam damaged in Marinduque due to Rolly


An unfinished dam in Barangay Tabique in Boac, Marinduque sustained damages due to strong rains and wind brought by super typhoon Rolly.

According to Ivan Mayrina’s report on “24 Oras” on Wednesday,  the destruction of submerged parts of the barangay.

One of the residents said the incident could have been prevented.

“Kasi ang maganda sanang protektahang proyekto ng DPWH at naprotektahan ang Barangay Tabique. Dapat dinikit nila ‘yong dike doon sa dulo doon. Iniwan kasi ito ng isang contractor,” Edwin Maglacas said.

Meanwhile, the Department of Public Works and Highways said Boac River rose up to six meters amid the onslaught of Rolly.

It added that the project cannot be considered delayed as it was targeted to be finished by December.

Moreover, the DPWH said it already coordinated with the contractor and the regional team regarding the destruction of the P40-million project.

A total of eight flood control projects were also damaged due to the onslaught of Rolly.—Ma. Angelica Garcia/LDF, GMA News
