Rodriguez, Rizal residents cry for help from their rooftops amid Ulysses’ onslaught

Several residents of Rodriguez, Rizal were left with no other choice but to cry for help from their rooftops as fast rising flood waters brought by Typhoon Ulysses submerged their homes on Thursday.

According to JP Soriano’s “24 Oras” report, one family received help after spending several minutes screaming for aid.

“Tulong po, Estrella Heights Subdivision. Lubog na po kami,” a woman wailed.

“Tulungan niyo po kami, nandito po kami,” a young girl cried out.

They eventually managed to transfer to a higher house, where they continue to take temporary shelter.

Similar scenes were observed in Dela Costa Homes, Barangay Burgos.

Several residents lost their appliances, food, and other belongings to the raging flood as they were forced to move up to their rooftops.

“Ang bilis, parang gumugulong siya ‘yung tubig,” Ramon Lagman said.

The flood subsided in the morning and left a thick pile of mud in its wake.

In 1K2, Barangay San Jose, a payloader had to be used for rescue efforts.

“Na-wash out bahay namin. Hirap. Hirap talaga ngayon,” a man said.

“Dapat ilipat kami sa ibang relokasyon. Mamamatay kami dito,” another added.

Rodriguez authorities said over 2,800 families were evacuated from eight barangays but no missing persons or casualties have so far been recorded.

The residents urgently need food and clothes, they added.
