Magat Dam keeps 2 spillway gates open as water nears spilling level
The Magat Dam in northern Luzon on Saturday morning reduced the number of its opened spillway gates to two, authorities said.
In a Facebook post at 10 a.m., the NIA-MARIIS-DRD Flood Forecasting and Warning System Dam Operation (FFWSDO) said that as of 10 a.m., November 10, the water level in the reservoir was 192.19 meters above mean sea level (masl), and that two spillway gates were opened as spilling level is at 193 masl.
Magat dam is on the Magat River, a major tributary of Cagayan River, which has swollen during the onslaught of Typhoon Ulysses, causing massive flooding in Cagayan province.
