Portions of Isabela still isolated due to Ulysses floods, vice governor says

A town and several barangays in Isabela remained isolated due to the floods caused by Typhoon Ulysses, Vice Governor Faustino Bodjie Dy said Sunday.

Interviewed on Super Radyo dzBB, Dy said they are hoping that the swollen river of Cagayan will now subside.

“Meron po tayong isolated na bayan, katulad po ng bayan ng Sto. Tomas. Sila po talagag 'yung napakalaki. At hirap na hirap ang aming probinsya na magdala po ng pangangailangan po nila,” he said.

Aside from this, Dy said some barangays in Ilagan, Tumauini, San Pablo, and Delfin Albano are still isolated due to the flooding.

“Catch basin ang northern portion ng Isabela kaya during and two days after, ito ‘yung nagiging dilemma ng probinsya sapagkat dito naiipon nga ‘yung mga tubig na nanggagaling sa iba’t ibang mga part ng aming alalwigan,” Dy said.

He added that some bridges under construction were also submerged in flood.

According to Dy, no more residents were stranded on roofs anymore.

He said that no casualty has been reported in the province so far.

Isabela was placed under a state of calamity on Friday due to the effects of Typhoon Ulysses, Governor Rodito Albano said on Friday.

Albano said the flood in most of the towns in the province reached the roofs of houses resulting in the isolation of many barangays.

As of Saturday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported that at least 37 people died and 15 are missing in five regions affected by the typhoon— Joviland Rita/RSJ, GMA News
