P4M worth of shabu seized at Davao checkpoint; suspect nabbed

Operatives of Task Force Davao on Wednesday seized shabu worth P4.08 million at the Sirawan checkpoint in Toril, Davao City.

According to a statement, authorities also arrested 19-year-old Erl Cesar Pitogo Camiso, who was carrying five jumbo size and one small heat-sealed plastic transparent sachets containing shabu.

Camiso was attempting to travel from Cotabato City to Nabunturan, Davao de Oro onboard a maroon Toyota Vios when he passed by the checkpoint.

In all, the illegal drugs seized at checkpoints by the Task Force Davao have amounted to over P14 million, which involved 77 persons.

According to the task force, this showed the "patience and determination" of the personnel as the operations were "professionally performed with zero fatality and no allegations of human rights violations.

Davao Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio also expressed her appreciation, the task force said.

“I congratulate our troops for a job well done. We will not lower our guards despite our task to scan DQR, deny entry of non-essential travelers and Locally Stranded Individuals in support to Davao City’s Task Force COVID,” Lieutenant Colonel Consolito Yecla, commander, said.

“I also admire the professionalism of TF Davao personnel for apprehending 77 persons for this year with zero fatality and no human rights violation," Yecla added.—Joahna Lei Casilao/LDF, GMA News
