American sex offender arrested in Cebu

Authorities on Tuesday arrested a 55-year-old American who has a pending warrant of arrest due to a sexual offense in Ginatilan, Cebu, according to John Consulta’s report on “24 Oras.”

The Bureau of Immigration fugitive search unit (BI-FSU) said a State of Oregon court in America released the warrant of arrest for Robert Tyler. He is also considered a high-priority target.

“An official communication was transmitted to us by the US Department of State, particularly the office, particularly the office of Overseas Criminal Investigation,” BI-FSU chief Bob Raquepo said.

“Eventually, he was tracked down with the much-needed support from our NBI counterpart in Region 7. He was, subject was finally located and apprehended,” he added.

The arrested foreigner declined to give a comment.

He is now at the detention facility of the National Bureau of Investigation in Bicutan.

“We consider him as somebody who poses threat to our public safety and security. Upon his deportation, he will be included in the Bureau’s blacklist order so that he will not be or he will be prevented from returning back,” Raquepo said.—Joahna Lei Casilao/LDF, GMA News
