Explosions hit gate of municipal hall in Jaen, Nueva Ecija

Two explosions were reported at the municipal hall in Barangay Sapang, Jaen in Nueva Ecija on Sunday afternoon after an improvised explosive device (IED) was detonated.

Initial reports from the Central Luzon Police show that security measures were being conducted in the Municipal Hall compound while a power outage covered the whole municipality when authorities heard two explosions near the Gate 5 at 4:25 p.m. on Sunday, coming from an IED with nails used as shrapnel.

Recovered at the area were parts of a motorcycle battery, scattered nails, and a bottle with suspected gasoline residue.

The police said it will review CCTV footage for possible leads. Further details on the incident were not immediately available. — Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/BM, GMA News
