Dog leads man to abandoned baby in Sibonga, Cebu
An abandoned newborn baby was saved in Sibonga, Cebu after a man heeded the barking of a stray dog.
According to Ian Cruz’s report on “24 Oras” on Monday, the baby, who still had his umbilical cord attached, was found wrapped in a towel in a dumpsite in Barangay Magcagong.
Junrell Revilla, a habal-habal driver, was on his way to his passenger’s destination when he noticed that a stray dog kept on barking and following him.
Revilla then stopped and followed the dog and found the baby. He immediately brought the infant to the community hospital and reported the incident to authorities.
“Ina-assess pa namin baka kasi mayroong mga bago lang na nakapanganak doon lugar. Nag-conduct pa ‘yong WCPD namin ng another investigation,” Police Corporal Cynna Enguito said.
“Initial assessment po, okay naman po ‘yong bata. Wala po siyang mga gasgas. May mga additional pa sigurong mga medical evaluation ‘yong hospital,” she added.
The baby is now in the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/DVM, GMA News
