Parts of Jolo town proper flooded due to heavy rains

Heavy rains that poured overnight since Sunday until before dawn on Monday resulted in floods in Jolo town proper in Sulu.

Power also went out in some areas.

Some houses by the coast of Barangay Bus Bus were damaged by strong waves, prompting residents to evacuate.

The Philippine Coast Guard said it has assisted residents affected by the flooding in Barangays Asturias, Tulay, Hadji Butu, Chinese Pier, Serrantes, Takut-Takut, and Alat.

No casualties were reported.

PAGASA said Mindanao, Palawan and Visayas will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms on Monday due to a low pressure area and the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone.

The state weather bureau warned of flash floods and landslides that may occur in areas prone to these hazards. —Peewee Bacuño/KG, GMA  News
