Low-pressure area nears Panay
A low-pressure area (LPA) spotted east of Visayas has reached the eastern coast of Panay Island in Western Visayas Sunday afternoon, state weather forecasters said Sunday. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration maintained its warning to residents of Bicol and Eastern Visayas against flash floods and landslides. âSouthern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms becoming widespread rains over Bicol region and Eastern Visayas which may trigger flash floods and landslides," Pagasa said. Pagasa said that as of 2 p.m., the LPA was estimated near the eastern coast of Panay Island. It added the tail end of a cold front is still affecting the eastern sections of Northern and Central Luzon. The weather bureau said the eastern sections of Northern and Central Luzon would have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers. The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to at times cloudy with isolated rain showers, it added. Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to rough. Winds will be light to moderate blowing from the east to northeast will prevail over Visayas and coming from the west to southwest over Mindanao with slight to moderate seas. GMANews.TV
