After Typhoon Rolly, Sorsogon school gets 2 classrooms rehabilitated thanks to Kapuso Foundation
Following the devastation of Typhoon Rolly last year, a school in Prieto Diaz, Sorsogon got two of its classrooms rehabilitated courtesy of the GMA Kapuso Foundation.
The San Rafael Elementary School received the classrooms from the Kapuso Foundation 14 years ago after Typhoon Reming wreaked havoc in the Bicol region back in 2006.
In a report on "24 Oras," the Kapuso Foundation returned once again to extend help to the school, which is now named San Rafael Integrated School.
"Nagpapasalamat po ako sa GMA Kapuso Foundation sa 14 years na suporta na binigay dito sa aming paaralan. Lalong lalo na si Tita Mel," said Principal Francisco Destura Jr.
The Kapuso Foundation also reunited with John Carlo Santillan, who was a still student during its first visit in 2007 but is now a teacher at the school.
"Sana hindi po kayo magsawang sumuporta sa mga bata lalo na po sa larangan ng edukasyon," he said.
Destura, who himself was a teacher at the school before becoming its principal, said Santillan did not give up on his dream to become a teacher despite the struggles they faced due to frequent calamities.
Now, their students can once again enjoy new facilities and focus on their studies just like he once did.
"Hindi po siya nawalan ng pag-asa, sabi niya nga sa akin sa ganung paraan makakatulong siya ngayon sa mga bata dito sa San Rafael," Destura said.
