Magnitude 5.1 earthquake rocks Camarines Norte


A magnitude 5.1 earthquake hit Tinaga Island in Camarines Norte early Friday morning, PHIVOLCS reported.

The 6 a.m. earthquake had a depth of one kilometer and was tectonic in origin.

The agency said there are no damages expected but aftershocks may occur.

According to Jose Panganiban, Camarines Norte Mayor Ariel Non, they are currently doing an assessment to determine if infrastructures sustained damages due to the quake.

Intensity IV was felt by residents of Capalonga, Camarines Norte while Intensity II was experienced in Goa and Naga City, Camarines Sur and Calauag, Quezon Province.

Intensity I, meanwhile, was recorded in Cainta, Rizal

Intrumental Intensities were reported in the following areas:

  • Intensity IV - Jose Panganiban, Camarines Norte
  • Intensity III - Guinayangan, Quezon
  • Intensity II - Gumaca, Mauban and Lopez, Quezon
  • Intensity I - Marikina City and Pasig City, Metro Manila; San Rafael, Bulacan
